Ron Paul Praises Newt Gingrich for Calling for Federal Reserve Audit

With Newt Gingrich headed to the sidelines, former rival Ron Paul praised his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Paul has certainly had his share of differences with Gingrich on foreign policy and a host of other measures but the Texas congressman offered kind words for his former speaker.

As he exits the race for the Republican nomination, Id like to acknowledge my former colleague in the House, Newt Gingrich, for running a spirited campaign, Paul said. In particular, I want to thank the former speaker for echoing my calls for monetary policy reform, including a full audit of the Federal Reserve --steps that will bring America closer to lasting economic prosperity for middle-class Americans who bear the brunt of the dangerous and unjust inflation tax.

Paul continues to stand in the way of Mitt Romney and has been building momentum picking up delegates in recent days.
