Randall Terry Calls for GOP to Dump John Boehner for Mike Pence

Randall Terry, best known for his time with Operation Rescue and his role in the Teri Schiavo case, is taking aim at the new Republican majority in Congress. Terry, who ran against the late Senate President Jim King in the Republican primary for state Senate on the First Coast, has been active in Washington as the campaign manager for Missy Smith, the Republican candidate who challenged D.C. congressional Democrat Eleanor Holmes Norton. The Smith campaign ran television ads showing aborted fetuses -- and both Smith and Terry insist they will recruit candidates for 2012 who will do likewise.

Terry was busy in Washington on Friday, holding an event celebrating Nancy Pelosi losing the gavel while trying to get Republicans to dump John Boehner of Ohio as speaker and install Mike Pence of Indiana, who is running for governor of his state instead of president in 2012.

"In his speech at his re-election, on Tuesday, Nov. 2, Representative John Boehner failed to mention the tea party even once, said Terry. Rep. Boehner voted for Bush's Medicare prescription-drug benefit, and twice he voted for TARP; he is part of the reason why the U.S. is both morally and financially marooned. It is presumptuous to think that he should serve as speaker of the House.

"Boehner will likely let down the tea party movement, will fail the pro-life movement, and he is a poor choice for speaker if we want to accomplish true reform in government, added Terry.
