Political Anger to Blame for Congressional Shooting, Poll Says

A new poll shows more than half of Americans believe a climate full of political anger is what led a gunman to open fire on Republican congressmen as they practiced for a charity baseball event this week.

According to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, 55 percent of Americans say the shooting incident was a result of political anger in the country. A smaller amount -- 28 percent -- said they believed the shooting was a random act of violence committed by an unstable person, while 17 percent said they weren't sure.

On Wednesday, a gunman opened fire on a field of Republican congressmen and staffers at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia. U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-LA., was the only congressman to be hit and is in criticial condition.
