Patrick Murphy Unveils Endorsements of 46 Congressional Democrats
After reeling in the support of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., continues to be the favorite of the Democratic leadership in Florida’s U.S. Senate race.
Murphy announced on Thursday that 46 members of Congress were backing him over U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., in the Democratic primary.
“I’m honored to have so many progressive leaders and Democratic colleagues supporting my campaign for U.S. Senate,” Murphy said. “In the House of Representatives, we have stood together to strengthen our middle class, protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors, and fight to protect women’s health care. In the U.S. Senate, I will continue fighting for these priorities and I’m humbled by the momentum we continue to build across Florida and the nation.”
Among Murphy’s new endorsements are U.S. Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif., U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-NY, U.S. Rep. Steve Israel, D-NY, and U.S. Rep. John Delaney, D-Mary.
