Patrick Murphy Reels in Support of South Florida Mayors

U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., continued his efforts in South Florida as he looks to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in November, unveiling the support of six mayors on Wednesday.

Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam, Coconut Creek Mayor Becky Tooley, Coral Springs Mayor Skip Campbell, Sunrise Mayor Mike Ryan, Wellington Mayor Bob Margolis, and Cutler Bay Mayor Peggy Bell all announced they were backing Murphy. U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., and attorney Pam Keith are also seeking the Democratic nod.

“I’m excited and honored to have the endorsements of so many strong South Florida mayors,” said Murphy. “These leaders know that my priorities – to protect Social Security and Medicare, fight for women’s health-care, and strengthen our middle class – are Florida’s priorities. I’m proud to have the support of these great local leaders and I will fight for every Florida community in the U.S. Senate.”
