NRCC Confident the GOP Keeps Rich Nugent's Seat

With U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent, R-Fla., announcing his retirement this week, U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Oreg., the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), sounded confident that the GOP will keep the seat.

“Congressman Rich Nugent has been a strong voice for his Florida constituents and his leadership in Washington will be missed,” Walden said. “ Rich Nugent has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents to rein in excessive government spending and to create a balanced budget.  While I am sad that Rich will be leaving Congress, I am happy that he will get to spend more time with his family back home in Florida.

“I am confident that Florida’s 11th District will remain safely in Republican hands as the NRCC works to maintain and grow our historic Republican majority,” Walden added.

The seat is generally considered solidly Republican.
