Nearly One-Third of Americans Already Finished with Holiday Shopping

With Christmas a little over a week away, it's crunch time to finish holiday shopping. But according to a new poll, nearly a third of Americans are already finished.

The Rasmussen Reports poll found 67 percent of American adults have already started their holiday gift shopping, a number that's up from 48 percentat the beginning of the month.Thirty percent said they still haven't started shopping.

Nearly a third of adults -- 31 percent -- said they have finished shopping, more than twice as many as two weeks ago.That number is up slightly from this timea year agowhen 64 percent had started their holiday shopping and 29 percent were already done.

But while many are still hitting the malls and finishing up holiday shopping, nearly half of adults -- 45 percent -- said theydo not plan on exchanging holiday gifts at all this year.

The survey of 1,000 American adults was conducted Dec. 13-14. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
