Most voters oppose bringing Guantanamo prisoners to U.S., poll finds

A new Rasmussen Reports Poll shows most voters oppose President Obamas plan to bring Guantanamo prisoners to U.S. soil.

The poll found 53 percent of respondents opposed bringing Guantanamo inmates back to the U.S. in order to close the prison camp in Cuba. Only 27 percent said theyd support such a plan.

The poll also showed a lack of confidencein the Guantanamo prison camps closure. Thirty-eight percent of respondents said the prison camps closure was not very likely in the next year. An additional 13 percent said the closure was not at all likely.

Respondents were divided on whether they agree with Obamas plan to close the prison camp, with 41 percent agreeing and 45 percent disagreeing with the presidents plan.

The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted May 25-26 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling erroris +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
