Mitt Romney Goes to Bat for Steve Southerland
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who placed second in the 2008 Republican presidential primary in Florida and is almost certain to run for the presidency again in 2012, went to bat for 10 Republican congressional candidates across the nation on Wednesday -- including Steve Southerland in North Florida who is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd.
Romney is calling for his backers to do all they can for Southerland and the other candidates he endorsed.
It is essential that we elect leaders who are committed to creating a pro-growth and pro-jobs environment, said Romney in a statement. It is my hope that this new initiative will serve as a resource for people to learn more about critical races across the country, and give them an ability to make a real difference that just might put our candidates over the top. We can take back control of Congress, but only if we work together.
