McCollum Campaign Manager Goes After Rick Scott on Abortion
Attorney General Bill McCollums gubernatorial campaign team is ripping into Rick Scott who is also running for the Republican nomination.
With the Scott campaign sending out campaign mail describing their candidate as a pro-life leader, Matt Williams, McCollums campaign manager, blasted Scotts conservative credentials on abortion.
In his most egregious attempt yet to run from questions of his role in overseeing massive Medicare fraud, Rick Scott is now claiming he is a pro-life leader who allegedly believes every life is worth defending, said Williams. Unfortunately for some, this couldnt be farther from the truth:
As the disgraced CEO of Columbia/HCA, Rick Scott profited from elective abortions performed at his hospitals, said Williams. He can say hes pro-life, but when he could have created a culture of life policy to stop abortions, he didnt the company had this policy throughout his tenure and continues it today. Rick Scott just collected the money that his hospitals made off of abortions and bought himself an $11 million home on the beach in Florida.
Columbia/HCAs treacherous record on abortion is well-known by conservative, pro-life investment groups who have refused to invest in HCA, said Williams.
With Scott gaining traction but still unknown to most Floridians, the McCollum team is looking to undermine Scott with his base -- conservative Republicans. Look for Scott to fire back -- and bring up McCollum's support for pro-choice Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani in 2008.
