Matt Gaetz to Host Northwest Florida Medical Marijuana Delivery

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, will be hosting the first delivery of medical marijuana to a patient in Northwest Florida on Thursday.

The delivery will take place at Gaetz's legislative office in Shalimar and the delivery will be completed by Surterra Therapeautics, one of the new medical marijuana dispensaries in Florida.

Gaetz has been one of the longtime advocates for legalizing certain strains of medical marijuana in the Sunshine State. In 2014, he and Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Plantation, cosponsored legislation to legalize low-THC medical marijuana. That legislation became the stepping stone for the current dispensing system of medical marijuana in Florida.
