Mary Thomas Reels in Vietnam POW Endorsement
Running in the Republican primary to take on U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham, Tallahassee attorney Mary Thomas announced on Monday she had won the endorsement of former Leon County Veterans Services Director Dale Doss, a Navy veteran who spent five years as a POW in the Vietnam War.
"Mary Thomas is the best candidate to fight for us and help save the American dream,” Doss said. “Mary is a real conservative Republican who will go to Washington and do what she says she will do. Her work for Gov. Rick Scott at the Department of Elder Affairs and on the Florida Defense Support Task Force is the kind of experience we need to protect my fellow Veterans and return our armed forces to preeminence."
"Dale Doss is a true American hero,” Thomas said. “Mr. Doss' trust in me to serve our community in the U.S. Congress is both humbling and inspiring. My campaign is about securing the American dream for the next generation like my young son Luke. The American dream is only secure when America is secure, and America is only secure when the men and women who defend us are honored for their service. This is my pledge to Mr. Doss and to all his fellow veterans, I will fight every day to make sure our federal government and our Veterans Administration treats our veterans with the honor and respect that they deserve, and that they have earned."
Thomas faces Dr. Neal Dunn and businessman Jeff Moran in the Republican primary.
