Mark Everson to Obama: IRS Scandal No Laughing Matter

Former IRS Commissioner Mark Everson, waging a dark horse bid for the Republican presidential nomination, took aim at President Barack Obama on Friday over his comments on “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart this week over how the IRS targeted tea party groups.  

Obama told commedian Stewart that the IRS did not have enough funding and bashed Congress for its current funding. 

Everson said on Friday the IRS scandal was no laughing matter. 

“Americans have every right to expect an IRS that is 100 percent non-partisan,” Everson said on Friday. “The revelations of IRS misconduct dating back to the last election cycle, and the agency's continued failure to produce records requested by Congress, have taken a toll on Americans' confidence in their government.  The president should stay out of this and let the investigators complete their work.”
