
LeBron James and the South Florida Economy
With basketball superstar LeBron James announcing on Thursday night that he would join fellow free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in signing with the Miami Heat, Floridians are rolling out the red carpet.
Christina De Nicola over at Bleacher Report compiled a list of 10 ways the James signing will impact Miami and its economy.
De Nicola wrote that the James signing meant increased merchandise and ticket sales, sponsorships, television revenue, downtown development, more attention to other South Florida sports teams such as the Marlins and the Panthers and increased media attention.
Apparently King James can be as good an economic magnet as Louis XIV was for the area around Versailles.
