Kendrick Meek Backs Perry Thurston to Challenge Pam Bondi

Former U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Fla., best known for being the Democratic candidate in the U.S. Senate race in 2010, endorsed Florida House Democratic Leader Perry Thurston, D-Fort Lauderdale, for the Democratic nomination to challenge Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in November. Thurston is battling former DCF Secretary George Sheldon in the Democratic primary.

Its not news that Tallahassee is a mess, Meek emailed Thurston backers on Friday. Special interests have too much power and it is costing the middle class. But we have a chance to change that this November. We can elect an attorney general who will fight for consumers and middle-class Floridians. Thats why I am proud to support Perry Thurston for Florida attorney general.

Perry is a champion for the middle class, Meek continued. As a state representative, he has stood up to Rick Scott, Pam Bondi and their special-interest friends. Hes fought for safer streets, better schools, and improved health care. He will keep fighting for us when he is attorney general. Instead of letting the special interests have their way, he will focus on putting criminals behind bars, standing up for consumers, and ending corruption in Tallahassee.
