Kanye West for President?

As Floridians know all too well, pretty much anything can happen in politics these days. Businessman Donald Trump is a prime example -- ten years ago, it was probably unimaginable the Don would be leading in Republican primary polls. So, expect the unexpected is pretty much the norm in politics, but even rapper Kanye West's declaration he would run for president caught many by surprise.

West, who has made headlines for controversial political statements throughout the years, said Sunday evening at MTV's Video Music Awards he wanted to head to the White House in five years.

After accepting an award at the ceremony, the rapper went on a lengthy rant about the entertainment industry, his fellow musicians and using drugs.

At the end of his speech, West closed:

"I don't know what I finna lose after this. It don't matter, though; It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
