Gun Massacre Prevention: Special Session Ahead?

State Sen. Darren Soto, D-Orlando, with other Democratic lawmakers and local officials who have been at ground zero of carnage left Sunday at an Orlando gay nightclub, say they will conduct a press conference Wednesday to announce their tactical proposal to prevent future tragedies.

The group will also call on the legislative leadership to convene a special session to immediately take up the measure.

Besides Soto, Sen. Geraldine Thompson, D-Orlando, Rep. John Cortes, D-Kissimmee, and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demmings will also attend.

The press conference is set for 10 am Wednesday, June 15, in Orlando -- in front of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, 445 South Magnolia Ave.
