Gary Bauer Weighs In on Crist-Clinton Effort to Get Meek to Drop Out
Conservative activist Gary Bauer, best known for his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000 and his leadership of the Family Research Council, offered his take on Gov. Charlie Crist and Bill Clinton trying to get U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek out of the U.S. Senate race.
Its a huge gamble with lots of risks for Democrats, wrote Bauer to backers in Florida. So why would Clinton go public now?
A recent poll taken before this breaking news showed that the Senate race had narrowed to single digits, added Bauer. Meek may not be getting out, but the fact that Clinton went public with this story is a clear signal to Democrats that Crist not Meek is their preferred candidate in the closing days of the campaign.
The last thing America needs is another liberal political opportunist in Washington, continued Bauer. We just got rid of Arlen Specter. We dont need Charlie Crist in the Senate!
