Former Sen. Greg Evers Dead at 62
In a statement issued Tuesday evening from the Senate office, Senate President Joe Negron, R-Stuart, announced the death of former Sen. Greg Evers, R-Baker. Evers died in a car accident earlier in the day not far from his home.

"I regret to inform you that the Senate was notified early this evening that our friend and former colleague, Senator Greg Evers, has passed away.
"Greg passionately represented his district for many years in both the House and Senate. He was especially dedicated to the men and women of his community who were serving or had served in the military, as well as our fellow Floridians across the state who serve as corrections Officers.
"While details are still forthcoming, I would ask that you keep the Evers Family in your prayers during this most difficult time. We will send updated information as it becomes available."
Evers, 62, a former candidate for Congress, had also been one of 14 candidates named earlier this month as under consideration for a seat on the Public Service Commission.
