Florida Education Association Plans Rally Against High-Stakes Testing in Tallahassee
The Florida Education Association, the state's largest teachers union, will gather in the Capitol Courtyard in Tallahassee Thursday to protest high-stakes testing and other education issues in the Sunshine State.
"Our children are being cheated out of a good education by policy makers and education reforms that are designed to meet the needs of adults rather than the needs of our children: high stakes testing, demonizing of teachers, voucher school and charter school profiteering disguised as ‘choice’ and schemes to undermine Florida’s class size amendment," read the event announcement.
Teachers from all over the state plan to head to the Florida Capitol, where the state legislature just began its 60-day regular legislative session Tuesday. The FEA has dubbed the event "Enough Is Enough!" and is calling it a rally for Florida's public schools."
The rally will take place at noon in the Florida Capitol Courtyard.
