Florida BOG Accepts Failing Grade in Fight to Raise Tuition

The Florida Board of Governors has withdrawn its lawsuit over the right to raise tuitions at the state's 11 public universities. The suit has been ongoing since 2007, when universities sought to raise tuition by 5 percent. Gov. Charlie Crist just sent out his response:

"The decision today by the Board of Governors to drop the long-standing lawsuit is welcome news for all Floridians. Dismissing the lawsuit is one more important step in Floridas purposeful effort to create a world-class education system. I congratulate the Board and Chancellor [Frank] Brogan for their leadership and look forward to continuing to work with the Florida Legislature for the betterment of higher education in Florida.
