On Thursday morning, state Rep. Matt Caldwell, R-Lehigh Acres, announced that a host of legislators from the First Coast were backing his campaign for the Republican nomination to replace term limited state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam in 2018.

Republican state Reps. Cord Byrd of Neptune Beach, Travis Cummings of Fleming Island, Jason Fischer and Clay Yarborough of Jacksonville, Bobby Payne of Palatka, Paul Renner of Palm Coast and Cyndi Stevenson endorsed Caldwell on Thursday.

“I am proud to have received endorsements from Republican House members in Northeast Florida,” Caldwell said. “I will continue to work hard to earn the trust and support of voters across the Sunshine State, who deserve a commissioner that has the leadership and policy experience to lead in Tallahassee on day one.”
State Sen. Denise Grimsley, businessman Paul Paulson and former state Rep. Baxter Troutman are also seeking the Republican nomination.
