Filmmakers to Legislators: Support Film Projects in Florida
The Florida film industry wants to see the Sunshine State on the big screen.
On Wednesday, film, television and digital media leaders plan to host a press conference alongside three Florida lawmakers to advocate for support of future entertainment efforts.
Sen. Nancy Detert, R-Venice, will join Rep. Mike Miller, R-Winter Park, and Film Tampa Bay in Tallahassee to highlight job losses and hundreds of millions of dollars lost in revenue as a result of lost film projects.
Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, has also been invited to the press conference.
According to a press release, lost film projects have cost the state more than $650 million in revenue since 2013. Live by Night, directed and starring Ben Affleck and the Infiltrator (starring Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston) are two high-profile films lost in the Tampa Bay region.
The press conference will be held in the Capitol Rotunda beginning at 12:30 p.m.
