Dream Defenders Cut from March on Washington Roster
Miami-based Dream Defenders, who are most notable for their 31-day protest outside of Gov. Rick Scott's office against the controversial Stand Your Ground law, have been cut from the March on Washington roster.
Leader of the Dream Defenders, Phillip Agnew, was scheduled to speak today, but was cut from the roster at the last minute, according to the Dream Defenders' Facebook page. The post read:
"PLEASE SHARE: Phillip Agnew of Dream Defenders, and Sofia Campos, young leader of United We Dream, have been cut from today's March on Washington roster. But our generation will NOT be silenced. Stay tuned for more to come, and START OUR OWN CONVERSATION ON TWITTER! Hashtag:#OurMarch&#MarchOn"
The Dream Defenders then took to Twitter to express their disappointment over being axed from Wednesday afternoon's commemoration of the 1968 March on Washington.
One of their followers explained they were tuning into the March for the Dream Defenders more than they were for Barack Obama. "Why were they cut?" asked Twitter user tylerevansokay.
"That's exactly why," responded the Dream Defenders, suggesting they believed they were cut because viewers would be paying more attention to them than President Barack Obama, who was scheduled to begin speaking at 2:45 p.m.
