Dennis Ross Returns $143K from Office Budget to Taxpayers

U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., part of the congressional leadership as senior deputy majority whip, announced on Friday he returned almost $143,000 from his office budget back to public coffers.

"If every day, hard-working Americans can live responsibly and on tight budgets, there is no reason our federal government cannot do the same, especially when it is spending taxpayer dollars,” Ross said. “Like my neighbors across Florida's 15th Congressional District, I sit down at the beginning of each year to plan a responsible congressional office budget that only uses funds that are absolutely necessary to provide exceptional constituent services and updates from Washington.

"This year, I am returning nearly $143,000 of my 2015 office budget back to the U.S. Treasury," Ross added. “Since I was first elected into Congress, Congressional office budgets have been cut by 16 percent. Even with these cuts, I have still managed to return almost half of a million dollars to date. As I demand good stewardship of taxpayer dollars by the entire federal government, my office works diligently to not waste a penny of taxpayer money. We must demonstrate to this administration that federal entities can all do more with less, which is why I make sure to return excess money.

"I am deeply honored to serve the 15th District of Florida, and I will continue to operate on a conservative, smart budget throughout my time serving in Congress," Ross said in closing.
