Daniel Webster Qualifies for CD11 by Petition
U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Fla., has qualified by petition as a candidate for Florida's 11th Congressional District, according to a press release sent Monday.
Webster will be running to replace retiring Rep. Rich Nugent, R-Fla.
To qualify by petition, a candidate must receive 2,298 petitions. Webster received nearly 2,400 verified petitions.
“It is a privilege to serve the people of Florida in U.S. House of Representatives,” said Webster. “I am honored and humbled to receive the support of Congressional District 11 voters. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Florida as we work to fix what is broken in Washington.”
Webster has served in Congress since 2010 and has qualified by petition three times.
Webster's decision comes after a lengthy redistricting process which eventually left his current district redrawn to heavily favor Democrats. The election will be held in November.
