Common Core Training Coming to Florida Colleges
Two universities and almost a dozen colleges in the Florida College System have received $7.2 million from a federal grant to offer Common Core State Standards training to public school teachers.
Indian River State College was penciled in as the lead institution as the Florida Common Core State Standards Professional Development Consortium launches the new training efforts.
Other schools taking part in the training are Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State University, Daytona State College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Edison State College, St. Petersburg College, St. Johns River State College, College of Central Florida, Northwest Florida State College, Miami Dade College, Chipola State College and Broward College.
Florida is expected to start Common Core training in the 2014-2015 academic year.
