Citizens Property Insurance Reform atop AIF’s Legislative Agenda

Reform of Floridas Citizens Property Insurance Corp. sits atop Associated Industries of Floridas (AIF) legislative priorities list that was distributed Wednesday to all legislative offices and Cabinet members.

AIF, Floridas powerful business lobby group, says it will advocate for the return of Citizens to an insurer of last resort and will work to limit the possibility of what could amount to hurricane taxes on the three-quarters of Floridians who do not hold policies with Citizens.

On Tuesday, AIF launched a new online tool aimed at showing that a majority of homeowners in Florida Senate and House districts do not hold policies with Citizens.

AIF also plans to push for legislation that will right-size the Cat Fund deficits.

Other items on the groups agenda include health care, education, manufacturing and environmental issues related to water.
