CFO Jeff Atwater Endorses Gary Aubuchon in CD 19 Race to Succeed Connie Mack

State Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater on Friday endorsed Gary Aubuchon's bid for the 19th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Connie Mack, R-Naples.

Gary Aubuchon will change the financial mentality in Washington, said Atwater. He is the right man to cut spending, balance the budget and hold government accountable again.

The former state Senate president said Aubuchon, who filled the state House seat vacated by Jeff Kottkamp when Kottkamp became Charlie Crist's lieutenant governor, brought a "business mentality" to Tallahassee that helped the Legislature cut state spending.

Aubuchon, R-Cape Coral, said he appreciated the endorsement.

CFO Atwater is an extremely well-respected leader on financial issues and his endorsement is very humbling, he said. I appreciate his friendship and advice as this campaign continues to move forward.

Other GOP contenders in the Southwest Florida race include Paige Kreegel, Trey Radel, Chauncey Goss, Joe Davidow and Brian Owens.

The seat in the heavily Republican district is open because Mack is running for U.S. Senate.
