BREAKING: Corrine Brown, Chief of Staff Indicted


BREAKING NEWS: Longtime Democratic Congresswoman Corrine Brown and her chief of staff, Ronnie Simmons, were indicted Friday on a series of charges related to what federal prosecutors describe as a "scheme involving a fraudulent education charity," the News Service of Florida has reported.

The 24-count indictment includes allegations of mail and wire fraud, concealing facts on financial-disclosure forms, filing false tax returns and theft of government property, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Jacksonville. Brown and Simmons are scheduled to make initial court appearances at 1 p.m. Friday. Sunshine State News will have more later in the day.
