Bob Graham Backs Patrick Murphy for Senate

The Democratic leadership continues to rally behind U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in the Senate as former Gov. and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., endorsing him on Monday.

“As a former governor and U.S. senator, Bob Graham defines what it means to be a true public servant and I am extremely proud to receive his endorsement,” Murphy said.  “Sen. Graham led Florida as a consensus builder and champion for middle class families, and our state was lucky to benefit from his leadership and service. I’m so thankful for Sen. Graham’s support and look forward to representing Floridians in his unifying spirit in the U.S. Senate.”

“Patrick is the right candidate to lead Florida in the U.S. Senate,” Graham said. “His strong democratic values guide him and Floridians can trust Patrick to represent what is best for our hardworking families. As Florida’s governor and as a U.S. senator, I worked hard every day to grow our middle class, protect our workers, and fight for our seniors. Patrick has the right priorities and I’m proud to support him as Florida’s next senator.”

Murphy faces U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., attorney and Navy veteran Pam Keith and life coach Lateresa Jones in the primary.
