Beleagured Occupy West Palm Beach Upstaged by Trapeze School

Our condolences to Occupy West Palm Beach.

Perhaps the smallest and soggiest arm of the national Occupy Wall Street movement got unceremoniously bounced from its home on a patch of government land in downtown West Palm Beach. And why? Because a different kind of circus -- a school for trapeze artists called The Trapeze Experience -- wanted its comfy green digs to entertain and train city folks.

OWPB's 15-at-most protesters, meanwhile, were sent a block down to slum it on the concrete steps of the old city hall building.

OWPB is doomed to be remembered for the three days of drenching rain it endured at the end of October, and the lonely, seven or eight tents that somehow managed to stay tethered through it all. No gathering of thousands. No noisy stand against Wall Street misdeeds or income inequality. No TVcameras. Just tents standing in water, a handful of umbrellas and sunken hopes for a cause that never quite caught on in Palm Beach County.

No word Wednesday on whether any of the Occupiers have signed up for trapeze school.
