Ander Crenshaw Weighs in Why He's Backing Old Foe Jeb Bush for President
Moments before former Gov. Jeb Bush launched his presidential bid, U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., explained whey he was backing the former Florida governor for the Republican nomination. Bush beat out Crenshaw in the Republican gubernatorial primary back in 1994.
“Jeb has my vote, because he’s got the record of success that is necessary to lead this nation forward. Florida is a large and diverse state, and he brought people together to solve big problems here. That’s exactly what he’ll do as president,” Crenshaw said on Monday. “In Florida, Jeb’s conservative reforms resulted in the creation of 1.3 million jobs, higher incomes, and gave all Floridians the chance for economic mobility. He’ll bring that same drive to the White House where as president his top priority will be to create high-sustained economic growth that will create 19 million new jobs.
“I had the pleasure of working alongside Jeb during the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process while he was governor,” Crenshaw added. “He lead the effort to strengthen Florida's defense infrastructure and brought more jobs and military missions to Florida than any other state in the nation. Jeb understood the needs of our national security back then and I know under his leadership, American will be stronger at home and stronger in the world.
“The road to the White House will be long and difficult,” Crenshaw said in conclusion. “That’s a certainty. But, along the way, Jeb will work hard, take nothing for granted, stay true to his principles, and earn every single vote.”
