Allen West: Obama 'More Dangerous than the Enemies We're Fighting'
Former U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., went on the attack against President Barack Obama on Wednesday, insisting the deal to release five Taliban leaders in exchange for a captured American soldier was a dangerous precedent.
America now negotiates with terrorists, West insisted on Wednesday. This is a dangerous precedent and was done unilaterally by President Obama when he secured the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl ... a deserter who abandoned his post leaving his weapon behind.
I just can't understand this president, West continued. Today is just another sad day where our own commander in chief is more dangerous than the enemies we're fighting.
Let's get something straight, West added. The Taliban is not a nation-state it's a nonstate, nonuniform belligerent organization ... a terrorist group. And Obama just gifted them five senior terrorist commanders to secure the release of a deserter. How many of our troops lost their lives and sacrificed to capture those five Taliban leaders? All for naught.
I believe there are long-term ramifications that will result from the release of these five terrorists and we have Obama to thank for it, West concluded.
