Alan Grayson Calls on Patrick Murphy to Return Contributions
As the Democratic primary to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continues to heat up, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., called on U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., to return contributions from Lloyd Boggio, Michael Cox and Matthew Greer, South Florida developers who are expected to plead guilty to stealing millions in federal housing funds.
"These reprobates stole $36 million set aside to help build affordable housing for Florida families who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, and Patrick Murphy reached out for that dirty money with both hands," said Doug Dodson, Grayson’s campaign manager, on Tuesday night. "We're used to seeing Murphy selling his vote to Wall Street lobbyists, but his is beyond the pale. He should return this stolen money."
Boggio, Cox and Greer contributed to Murphy’s 2012 congressional bid and Boggio sent Murphy contributions last year.
