AFL-CIO Snub Aside, DWS Collects a Cartload of S. Florida Union Endorsements

After the AFL-CIO failed to endorse Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida's CD 23, a group representing more than 50 South Florida labor organizations announced Saturday their support for the district's incumbent congresswoman..

“I’m honored to receive such an outpouring of support from my brothers and sisters in the labor movement,” Wasserman Schultz said in press statement. “... Labor has always had a seat at the table and a place in my heart and I’m honored and humbled to receive these endorsements.”

During a news conference announcing their support, the labor leaders hailed the congresswoman’s long record of providing strong, responsive and progressive leadership on behalf of working people in South Florida and across America, according to the press statement.

Since her first election to the Florida Legislature, Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz has enjoyed consistent and substantial union support.

Miami Herald reporter Alex Daugherty, who covered the press conference, said Wasserman Schultz was so overwhelmed by the support, she "broke down in tears."

Desperation Debbie. Trying to save face from getting the boot from the AFL-CIO, she gathers her long time local cronies to who try to save her ass. The truth is labor sees a real friend and legislator who will help workers and the middle class out of their struggles. Fast Track TPP Debbie is no friend of labor.

AFL-CIO is THE big fish when it comes to unions. The shame of a sitting Congresswoman, DNC Chair no less, not getting their endorsement means a lot more than gathering cronies to try to save face. It is so obvious that this is an attempt to have people not pay attention to AFL-CIO not endorsing her.
